The group is made up of five lads from Britain and they have taken the music scene by storm.
And last week their music video for “What Makes You Beautiful” clocked in at #7 on the YouTube top ten video charts.
One Direction competed during season seven of the popular “X Factor” television show but only managed to come in third place.
But that was all it took.
The band is made up of eighteen year old Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, seventeen year-old Harry Styles, and twenty year-old Louis Tomlinson.Liam Payne had tried out for “X Factor” before – during season five when he was only 14-years-old but judge Simon Cowell didn’t think he was ready for the competition.
Immediately after the show wrapped filming for the season the boys signed a $2 million recording contract with Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and started working on their first album due out next month.
In the meantime, here is a sneak peak at their just released single “What Makes You Beautiful”.
While the boy band has already published one book detailing their journey on the “X Factor” show, their second book “Dare to Dream: Life as One Direction” is scheduled for release in September 2011.
And the World is anxiously awaiting their debut album due out in late September.
The boys have already launched their official One Direction web site and their official fan club on Facebook.
Initial presale numbers are encouraging and point toward one of the biggest British album debuts in ten years.
