Steve Jobs Resigns From Apple - The End of an Era

An iconic business leader that carved his company into the culture of not only America – but the World, is stepping down.

Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs has just announced his resignation from the company.

Jobs, who was an instrumental figure, along with Bill Gates and Microsoft, during the early days of personal computers, has navigated Apple through the development of the original Macintosh computer all the way to the now ubiquitous iPhone.

Jobs, who has suffered several medical problems including pancreatic cancer, sent a letter to the Board of Directors on Wednesday.

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.”

Jobs, who has recently appeared gaunt and clearly showing signs of weight loss, is expected to stay on in some capacity with the company for as long as he is able.

Jobs has recommended to the Board that he be replaced with current Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook.

Apple became a household after it released its now famous “1984” television commercial for the original Macintosh computer in 1984.

Steve Jobs became an instrumental leader in the personal computing industry with the first computer to ever use a mouse for navigation.

His stage presence and presentation skills are legendary with his ability to whip a crowd into a frenzy with his new product announcements.
