Print mixing fashion

When it comes to fashion these days, there are no rules.  We’ve seen it all: Plaids and polka-dots, florals with animal print, sequins and sneakers, geometric patterns and graphic prints with stripes.…

Print mixing is one of the more difficult trends to pull off.  But when done right, mixed prints can look wildly high-fashion.

1. Colors are important

During your first attempt at mixing patterns, try mixing a piece that has a lighter or neutral color with one that is bolder or more eye-catching. Let the color of one piece pop, while the other piece creates an aspect of “calm” instead of having 2 colors that are almost competing for attention.

Another good color tip is to pair prints that are within the same color group. The boldness of the prints will not seem as sharp if the other prints are closer to the same color.

 2. Dots and Stripes work well together 

May sound odd, but they create such a contrast to one other that it actually works when done the right way. This is usually a good way to start mixing prints before jumping into more complex prints such as tribal or animal prints.

    3. Proportion, Proportion, Proportion

Knowing how to play with the size of the patterns is important. Certain sizes can create an illusion of something being smaller or larger than it actually is. For example, pairing thin stripes and thick stripes can create a balance, emphasize your waistline and distract the eye from certain areas.

   4. Option To Separate

One easy way to wear prints and not feel as if the look is too overbearing, separate the prints with a solid item. For example, if you wear a printed top with a printed skirt, then wear a basic belt or cardigan. The separation of prints decreases the boldness of the mixed prints but you still get the same edgy effect.

   5. Test out textures

Mix pieces together and figure out which combinations are pleasing to you and what you are comfortable in. At the end of the day, your comfort in the look is the most important.

Aztec Inspired Fashion

I know the whole Aztec trend has been around for a couple of years now but the Aztec and Tribal prints add a funky twist to any outfit and this season it’s all about combining and layering! If you are looking to add a splash of color in that wardrobe, get yourself a lovely blend of geometric pattern.  Inspired by ancient culture this trend is sure to create an ethnic vibe with any piece.  from tanks, dresses, shorts, leggings and skirts you cant go wrong.

Spring Mint Green

Spring will see a lot of mint coming into our lives, with the colour already starting to pop up at many of our favourite fashion stores.  Pastel colors are going to be big in general this season, but mint is the trendiest hue of the bunch.  i know we haven't even gotten in to winter, but this color matches to almost everything and it really cheers you up! I'm in love with this pastel color.

Printed pants are making a huge splash in the fashion world, their bright colors and wild patterns are eye-catching. They are a great way to spice up your wardrobe and are anything but boring! Cropped, harem, flowing, and fitted styles are making a stylish appearance.  When you're shopping for a pair of printed pants, look for bright, colorful shapes, stripes, and geometric patterns. 

If you are going to try print pants, keep the rest of the look toned down by using a plain color blouse or shirt with them. Otherwise it can turn into a fashion catastrophe.

Even though printed pants are pretty much an accessory on their own, it doesn’t hurt to add a thin belt or a pair of statement earrings into the mix.  choose low-key ones that are mainly there just to add flair, simple accessories are always the best choice.

Trend to try: Pencil skirts

They are everywhere you turn, in every fabric, colour and print.  They’re a classic piece that will never go out of style, can be worked for any occasion.  No matter if you are young or old, you’ll always feel good and comfortable wearing pencil skirts.  

Pencil skirts look best when the hemline falls just before or after the knees. Look for skirts with a short slit up the middle (in the back) or up the side of the leg. You can also play with patterned pencil skirts or try master the color blocking trend.  

They are extremely flattering for most body shapes and It allows women to exude sexiness in a subtle way.  Pair with heels, which will elongate the legs and create a slimmer silhouette. It fits any time, age and fashion.

something i really love at the moment are chain headbands,  you can tastefully incorporate metal chain into your style and especially because it lends itself to DIY: If you don't want to go out and buy something similar, you can take silver necklaces and pin them in place.
